Description

ZOOM IN FOR MUCH BETTER QUALITY!

This is my second extra pic for the HARPG'S Next Top Horse show, hosted by *Kalesta! I thought I'd do something pretty normal this time, instead of pre-show schooling or anything, so it gives me a better story opportunity.

Horse: PD Chex High Kaliber
Rider: Aubrie Collins
Number: 075

Story:

Aubrie sighed as she leaned against Kasey’s stall, clearly exhausted. Kasey was untacked, hosed down, and back in her stall eating dinner, but that didn’t lessen the pile of tack Aubrie had dumped on the floor, the hay bales that still had to be unloaded off the truck into Pebble Creek’s assigned feed room, and Josh’s squawking at Aubrie about how less-than-perfect all her work was. Looking at her watch, Aubrie reluctantly stood all the way up and bent over to pick up Kasey’s saddle and breastcollar that still hadn’t been put away. It was nearly 7 o’clock, which meant dinner was soon. At least that meant a little while to sit down and talk to Stacy and Dana without Josh hanging over her head, criticizing every move she made. Aubrie trudged into the tack room, flicked on the light with some difficulty, and dropped the saddle harshly on the saddle rack labeled with a piece of duct tape, on which Kasey’s name was written in careful, loopy handwriting. She sloppily hung the breastcollar on the corresponding bridle rack, knocking Kasey’s bridle off the rack with a metallic clank. Aubrie groaned loudly, getting frustrated, and bent over to pick it up, but a slightly tanned hand reached underneath her and scooped up the bridle. As Aubrie straightened up, she recognized the face.

“Amanda! I haven’t seen you in forever!” she exclaimed, hugging the young blonde. It was true, she hadn’t. The last time they had met up was during Pebble Creek’s High Noon show, where Hickory Ridge Farm’s up-and-coming mare Rue had taken home Grand Champion. Amanda hugged Aubrie back, and grinned.

“Here’s your bridle, Klutzy,” she teased, laughing. Aubrie rolled her eyes and took back the bridle, hanging it neatly on top of the breastcollar. “Hey, you want to go get dinner? I’m starved,” Amanda said, sounding desperate.

“Hah, I wouldn’t expect anything else from you,” Aubrie replied, jabbing Amanda in the ribs but missing, and catching Amanda’s kick on the back of the knee. She went cartwheeling head over heels out of the tack room, landing on a hoof pick and screeching in pain. Soon enough, Amanda had fallen over on top of Aubrie, and the both of them were laughing hysterically, drawing weird looks from stables that weren’t familiar with the girls’ antics. Heaving huge sighs and gasping for breath, Amanda clambered up to her feet, Aubrie following suit. “I see how it is. We’d better get down to dinner before we kill each other by accident,” she joked, skipping off out of the barn. Amanda ran up behind her, jumping onto her back and clinging on for dear life. And with that, the two piggybacked it out of the stable and all the way to the dining hall.

I love the story! This sounds like me and my friends the night before a show. After all of the unloading, schooling, bathing and braiding... we are soo out of it xD
